I am Caty Porter

I started melting glass and making beads in June 2001. My initial aim was to make the beads to embellish my own Art Quilts. And I did sew a few flat disc type beads on a few small wall hangings. But a funny thing happened on the way to Quilt Embellishment. I suddenly had a lot of beautiful, unique glass beads and I didn't want to do anything but make more. I spend more and more evenings out in the garage with my torch and my kiln and a dazzling supply of every color glass the Italians and Germans are producing. It's hot, the music is loud on the boom box, and the glass is flowing.
